All of the Services are disabled when you restart the computer for the first time. Also run your virus scan software. But I did narrow it down to about 10 or so items.
If this occurs, then we know that a Service is responsible for this. We are hoping that after the non-Windows Services are disabled and you reboot the computer will boot normally and perform properly like it is in Safe Mode. System restore would not work for those cases. If your computer is unstable, you'll have to do this from Safe Modee -- the hardware drivers won't interfere and make your computer unstable in Safe Mode.

When you boot it back up, press the F8 key before the Windows screen appears. The little speaker in the corner has an x and says the audio service is not running or something.
