Well, we got back about 20 minutes ago and I put the hard drives back in and attempted to install the OS, but checked the BIOS before I did anything. But that did not helped either. I tried to start up and (still in dos) was told I had a bad hard drive and to consult my ‘troubleshooting guide” – HA. From what I can see, I assume that it might mean the hard drive(s) is dying. It's so slow that it is taking 15 mins to log in to windows and 15 mins to shut it down. It does not repair.

If you receive the "unmountable boot volume" error and have an installation disk, you still have a chance to save your system. what to do? Windows installation wont work as well. Good luck y'all!

It's on various loops of repair / unmountable etc. Robert When I get to the command prompt after booting with my windows7 CD my command prompt is X:\Sources> I type in chkdsk /R C: and I get Cannot open volume However, when I follow the boot sequence, I never get the "Welcome to Setup" screen that is needed to get to the DOS promt and start this great fix everyone is Anything I try reverts back to the unmountable-boot-volume blue screen.
